Computer/human structural coupling for data interpretation

چکیده
We work on the design of computerized systems that support experts during their complex and poorly formalized data interpretation process. We consider interpretation as the process by which high level abstracted information is attached to data. We assume that a computer could efficiently helps an expert in such a process via a structural coupling (Maturana and Varela, 1994) based on their interactions. Enaction appears as a stimulating source of inspiration for the design of such systems. Our approach is applied to the exploration of physiological time series acquired from patients in intensive care unit (ICU).

An Algorithm for Modeling and Interpretation of Seismoelectric Data
Generally speaking, seismoelectric modeling is a prospecting method based on seismic and electromagnetic waves, in which waves generated by a seismic source at the boundary of the two environments generate a relative fluid-solid motion formed as a result of antagonism between the elastic properties of the environment with the saturated fluid. This research has as its objective, a study of the e...
متن کاملMMDT: Multi-Objective Memetic Rule Learning from Decision Tree
In this article, a Multi-Objective Memetic Algorithm (MA) for rule learning is proposed. Prediction accuracy and interpretation are two measures that conflict with each other. In this approach, we consider accuracy and interpretation of rules sets. Additionally, individual classifiers face other problems such as huge sizes, high dimensionality and imbalance classes’ distribution data sets. This...
متن کاملFSR Decrement and Coupling Coefficient Increment in Add-Drop Filters
In this paper, effects of the structural parameters on the optical characteristics of an add-drop filter, consisting of two straight waveguides and a micro-ring resonator (MRR), have been investigated. In this research, effects of MRR radius, the width of MRR and waveguide and the gap between MRR and waveguide, on free spectral range (FSR) and coupling coefficient have been studied. It is found...
متن کاملUnderground contour (UGC) mapping using potential field, well log and comparing with seismic interpretation in Lavarestan area
Coastal Fars gravimetry project in Fars province was carried out to find the buried salt domes and to determine characteristics of faults in this area. The Lavarestan structure was covered by 4203 gravimetry stations in a regular grid of 1000*250 m. Depth structural model of this anticline made in previous studies was based on geological evidences and structural geology measurements. In order t...
متن کاملEngineer-computer interaction for structural monitoring
An increased availability of information technology (IT) is currently influencing decisions to monitor structures more frequently. IT is invariably used to interpret structural behaviour from monitoring data. However, engineers remain frustrated with IT results. Engineers work with incomplete knowledge, problem specific characteristics, and context dependency. Although such conditions require i...
